Cross The Line - John Legend

Fellas, if you ever wanted to take it to the next level with a chick and move past the "we're just friends" stage, but you didn't know how to say it...... this is the song you need to play and I guarantee you, she'll say "Yes". Behind this up tempo beat is a message that's comparatively the same as Young Money's "Every Girl". Yea..... John Legend's an on the low freak! But you would never guessed it because of his compassion for the female and choosing to not simple say "Let's be friends with benefits" but his "homegirl he can take home, girl". Lyrics aren't as romantic and thought provoking like they used to be because everything is so blunt and straight forward! The great thing and difference from this song and Young Money's so is at lease John Legend wants to take the girl home and keep her, not bang bang bang and she got to leave in a few minutes. At lease she can stay hell! Overall, this is a beautiful song from a man with a beautiful voice who's looking for some cut from his best friend. Fellas, try it and if it doesn't work out, she's just not into you!

The Dream - Nikki - Abyss

Known as one of the biggest names in music producing and song writing, The Dream earned a spot as one of my favorite artists because of staying true to his music and expressing himself throughly whether you like it or not. Before he was a front running artist, he penned multiple singles for Rhianna and Beyonce, to name a few and was heavily demanded as a producer. This week, I'm ending with my favorite music artist who don't get enough shine and credit, but are the reason some of the more mainstream artists are popping the way they are now!

Drownnnnn Bitch Drown! Is basically what artist The Dream is saying to his lover who betrayed him with some other man after she promised that she was all his! LIES! I wonder was his talking about his ex wife who went and cheated and got knocked up by that gremlin we call Lil Wayne (True Story)... More than likely so! SMDH! Anyway, I love this song because it's so relatable and raw! This song is for anyone who was deceived by lust thinking it was love and it turned out that that muthafucka was the devil in diguise. Sometimes you do want to just hurt them just as bad as they hurt you and "chain their heart to the bottom of the lake", I know I wanted to do it too! Also, the beat to this song is so orgasmic you would think this was a love song, but oh no no no, it ain't! And I'm a big fan of bass in my trunk and the bass to this song is like surround sound! Simply put.... The Dream killed that, but it's The Dream, he's supposed to!

Future- "Magic"

Oh My Goodness yall! OK remember how I posted about a entertainment group named Dormtainment and the video they made about rappers rapping real lazy and their "flow needs Viagra cause it can't get up"?! Yea, well low and behold, just last week during the Thanksgiving holiday this song comes on the radio as I'm driving back to school. At first it kind of stumped me because I was like "Now, I know I heard this beat from somewhere!" Then, when the song got to the chorus part, I was like "Yep, I know exactly where that comes from!". Talk about LMAOing, I just couldn't believe it!

Because of Dormtainment, I couldn't take this song serious at all. The fact that everything about this song is the exact rhythm and flow of the parody song kills me. The fact that this dude name is Future, but committing murder to Hip Hop music is killing me. The type of fuckery that rappers come out with now and have the decency to call it "art" or a "craft" kills me. Haaahhhhhh, I mourn for our generation when it comes to music. Matter of fact, let's say a pray!

Dear Baby Jesus, please save what's left of Hip Hop sanity and preserve it for someone who won't get blindsided from the gimmick insanity. Please help this Future did realize he is a one hit wonder and his career ends with this song! In Baby Jesus' name I pray, Amen!

And on that note, I'm out!

Smooth Criminal

Personally, this video is just sexy! MJ was just so damn "smooth" in this video with that crisp ass white suit on. I was like Mike you better work on them boys! I love how he commands the spotlight and attention when he performs, but then again you can't help but watch so closely because you're afraid you might miss something. The dance moves was super sick! He's always made it his duty to be sharp and intricate with his choreography and it really is hard to imitate him. Trust me I tried! Few can do some justice-- by far Chris Brown is the closet-- but no one can really do Michael better than Michael. As far as the single itself, his vocals in Smooth Criminal is like a cross between some kinda rock, pop, mix and it just works. When listening to an MJ track, unless you have that creative thinking like him, it's hard to understand the reasons why he does what he does, but you can't help but love it. Being that I ain't all that creative, I'll just appreciate the good music and keep it moving! RIP MJ.

Michael Jackson's Black or White

One thing I always loved about Michael is his compassion towards humanity and staying true to his beliefs, whether the world thought he was weird and crazy because of them. I admired how he never took the words "no" or "can't" as an options and because he wasn't submissive and held behind boundaries, the world was able to see his music in a broader spectrum. On a lighter note, this is my favorite game on the Michael Jackson experience (I hold the top record... I dare you to challenge me). But MJ wasn't no joke either! In my opinion, dude was not dancing.... He was exercising because at the end of every song, I was sweating profusely! If every child played his game everyday, there wouldn't be obesity. I'm telling you, the MJ experience game is the cure! Speaking on the video, at the end I always thought I was one of the people doing the "It's black, It's white..... Yeah Yeah Yeah!" I'm sure some of you done it too. This is just a fun song, but with a deep message.

Michael Jackson is immortal!

Over the weekend, I couldn't stop playing Michael Jackson's greatest hits. Which in my opinion, every song is a hit if it's MJ's. Anyway, this week will be dedicated to him in honor of being a bad ass in pop culture and an all round entertainer of my lifetime or in other words... my favorite MJ songs! So to jump things off, my number one song from the King of Pop is "They don't care about us". Besides this ticking military beat that makes you want to dance like the master himself (I can never not do the shoulder bounce he does), the words speak on some real shit! World oppression, police brutality, and the justice system just to name a few was brought to life through this video and it's trifling how these same issues MJ was talking about damn near 21+ years ago, still exists today. IDGAF what anybody says.... racism is still live and well, but that's a whole different story for a different time. It's always sad to see such a great entertainer go because it seems so surreal, but like I've been told a time or two... the art will always out live the artist. Enjoy!

@Dormtainment - #RapRealLazy

I honestly have no words for this post, but I think it's hilarious how they imitate Rappers in the South; more specifically Atlanta. What's funny is that I would rather hear them make jokes about the rappers than the rappers on a song! Once again, Dormtainment has keep me from falling asleep on the job!

Dormtainment-Straight Outta Dunwoody

Oh Dormtainment, how I love you guys! These guys have got to be some of the most underrated, most talented entertainers I can think of. They've always seem to amaze me every Sunday with some new crazy video. Like this one, they made a surburban lifestyle video from the song Straight Outta Compton! I won't give you too much detail, so you just have to watch it! 6 of the funniest guys around... I pinky promise!

Biggie Smalls feat 112 - Sky's The Limit

So, I'm supposed to be at work working, but I don't feel like it, so I guess I won't be getting anything accomplished today. I just felt like listening to some 90s music today and one song in particular was just buzzing in my head that my older brother use to play all the time back in the day. This song right here used to be my morning ritual: wake up, sit on the toilet a good 3 minutes before I was really woke, and crank this up. For all those who sometimes feel like it's impossible and can't make it through the day, Notorious B.I.G told you---and maybe your parentals, the sky is the limit! Enjoy.

Frank Ocean- Thinking About You

I just love every song Frank Ocean is coming out with! This is an example of what artistry is supposed to be. This is dedicated to all those out there who may be sitting on the couch or laying in the bed randomly thinking about a ex boyfriend or girlfriend and just wonder if they're thinking about you as well. Now, I'm not saying lay in misery and throw a pity party for that past relationship, but for the moment, just reminisce about that one who could have been! Enjoy peoples!

I'm so sad right now!

Soooooooooo, I'm a little emotional today and I have no idea why-- well I kinda do but that's something I'm not wanting to go into detail about cause I just might have a breakdown. Anyway, I love this song and I've been playing it all day just to get me through this love rollercoaster and the fact that it sounds like someone got the beat by pressing the volume button on a MacBook makes it pretty cool too. Oh, and it was written by Frank Ocean, who I just love! Hope this soothes all the ones missing their baby right now, cause I'm missing mine right now!

Everything is "Gucci Gucci"

First of all, I just want to say-- I don't care what anybody thinks about Kreayshawn's Gucci Gucci song because if nobody else loves the song, then I do. What's weird about it is, I have no idea why I like the song to begin with! Like, I seriously couldn't tell you a good reason why I like it. Mostly, if a song catches my attention, it's probably because it has a sick beat and about 30 seconds to impress me with the lyrics, but the lyrics are trash to me in this song, so I'm mainly going off the beat. Besides this song, Kreayshawn probably wouldn't have any relevance to me. It's funny though, that she thinks she's more than a gimick, and you know, all moms tells their children to strive for the best in life, but this child needs to be a One-Hit Wonder, and keep it moving cause that's all she's got going. It's hilarious how I keep seeing her in videos and magazines always defending her music career when she really doesn't have one-- well one that's going to be around in the next year or so, but I like that determination-- meant in the most sarcastic tone as possible! I know I might sound like I'm contradicting myself, but whatever! You know how it's that one song everyone heavily talk down on, but deep down this song is your shit and you can't help but get excited about it when it comes on?!...... This is my song for that situation. I guess I do kind of like her style, but I feel like that's all a gimick too to make her look likes she fits in naturally. I don't know but the song gets me hype and that's all that really matters to me! Check out the video and see for yourself!

Oh Rihanna!

When Rihanna first came out, back in 2000 something, I really don't know, I was like "I wonder how long will she be around?!" In my opinion, she was just another cute little pop singer who was going to be a one hit wonder, get her little 15 minutes of fame, and that was it. But then, she became relevant all over the place and I'm like okay, maybe she might be working with something here--- or she has really good management! Either way, she still around, regardless of what I thought, so I guess in the end, it really don't matter what my opinion is!

Until recently, I haven't been a big fan of hers, just because I saw her live once and I was highly disappointed with the performance she called herself giving the audience. It's a good thing I didn't pay for those tickets because I would've wanted my money back ASAP! She has no stage presence, no real choreography besides shaking her ass in the smallest shorts that have ever been produced on the planet Earth, and she can't sing her own damn songs because she's out of breath by the time she steps on stage. I was like, what kind of fuckery am I watching right now, cause that was ridiculous! I will never attend another Rihanna concert ever---- unless somebody just really wanted to go!

But anyway, she's starting to rub off on me now because I'm finding myself listening to her a lot these days. I listened to her album on itunes and I really did fall in love with the songs, especially "Cheers (drink to that)". It wasn't what I expected at all. I listened to all the songs without skipping any, which is very hard to do because a lot of the times, artist have their select few that they know fans will like and then they have those filler songs on the album just to take up a number for the tracks they can have per album. But Rihanna did that, I was very impressed and supported the album by downloading it------ the legal way this time LOL! I even created a radio station after her on Pandora, so she gotta be doing something right, I guess! So yeah, I guess you can say I'm becoming more fond on Rihanna, but I still wouldn't watch her live! With a little more practice and preparation, I think she can improve, but for now... I'd rather just enjoy her on my MP3 player!

I'm good on Lil' Wayne

RIP to the Old Lil Wayne!

Growing up, I was a die-hard CASH MONEY, 504 Boys, Lil' Wayne fan. I knew all the songs, and the words to those songs. This was when Lil' Wayne made sense to me. When he was raw and talented! When he had drive to want to be the best at what he did and not produce just any kind of crap, for the sake of having a recording contract or trying to make bank off songs. The Lil' Wayne who wasn't trying to be a "Rock Star", which I still don't know who planted that idea in his head. They need to be shot ASAP! I miss "The Carter 2" lil' Wayne, when he had tracks that spot to the soul and made the brain wonder because his diction was so clever that you had to break down the message! For example, "Hustler's Music" in my opinion, was the song that made me realize that Wayne wasn't someone to be reckon with. I would give anything for Wayne to make an album like "The Carter 2" again. But, now this fool is trying to be something that he's not for the sake of being on top. I like to think of it as a sell-out and confined to a small box called POP music.

This new, supposedly "Best Rapper Alive" is actually a bunch of bull-shit because I don't feel like Wayne hasn't moved forward. Like I said, Wayne is now stuck in this POP music box, where he's reached mainstream population and sold this 1.5 million copies for "The Carter 3", --what I think is considered a cup coaster to be sat on the table-- and the album really isn't that great of a job, if you ask me! I mean, it's not that bad, but it's not the old Wayne. And then he had the nerve to try and do a Rock album back in 2009. Like that was a hot mess.com. Off that album, I probably liked one song and that was "Prom Queen". He was a fool for pretending like he can play the guitar too. I was stunned and appauld then, and still am now. Wayne's decision to rock was the biggest failure for his career ever! Now, today's Wayne has the same sounding beats, same lines "Young Mula Bayyyybeeeeyyy" and "Weezy F. Baby.... the F is for_______ <<< insert word of his choice" and the same featured artists, which is Rick Ross, Drake and Nicki Minaj. I won't sit here and say I completely shut off Lil' Wayne and his new music, but I prefer to listen to old Wayne compared to now!

I mean I guess I understand the direction and aim that he's trying to go into, which is every artist's dream of being the most prominent in their category, but I just feel like he's stopped being that New Orleans Rapper with a true Louisiana accent and traded himself in for a pair of Vans, some skinny jeans, and a skateboard! And we all know it's because of fortune and fame! C'mon Wayne. I know that old Lil' Wayne still runs through your veins, just let the world and myself have him again, even if it's for one night only!

Up and Coming Artist, Frank Ocean drops second single!

A lot of people don't really know who Frank Ocean is, but after the release of his second single entitled "Swim Good" he's making a statement in the R&B music department that he's trying to be the next big thing in entertainment. With mellow, driving down the highway beats combined with lyrics that would please any English professor, Ocean is climbing his way up the ladder to success. Collaborating with other big name artists like Jay-Z and Kanye West, it's only a matter of time before Ocean gets his time to shine.

Swim Good is so genius because his word play has so many hidden messages inside. The song tells two different stories but it confuses you on exactly which one is correct. One story is explaining how he's had a  history for being a  heart-breaker and he now feels like his love life is over, so he might as well be dead. No one can save him, nor does he want someone to. But, then there's another story that says he's on a mission to better his life regardless of his past and all he has to do it let go and be free, hince the phrase "swim good". I'm not sure which story I should follow at the moment because the words and the beat of the song play against each other, so it's kind of hard to tell. What I will say is that Frank Ocean is on his way to the top. Lyrically, he's shitting on other people in the game and I feel like he won't quit until the world knows who he is!
